Simen Agdestein

Simen Agdestein was born 15. May 1967. He won the IM title in 1983 and the GM title in 1985.

By winning the Nordic Championship in 1985 securing his final GM result, Simen Agdestein became Norways first Grandmaster and the youngest GM in the world at the time. Agdestein is not only a strong chessplayer but also a very good football (soccer) player. He played 8 games on the Norwegian national football team in 1988 and 89 before injuries forced him to give up playing football.

Today Agdestein is a teacher at the Norwegian Sports Gymnasium. He is teaching chess and football!
